We all know how demanding and time consuming architecture school can be and how little time we have for other activities such as participating in architecture competitions. In 2009, a small group of students from Romania had the initiative to merge the two worlds - the studio and the competition.
The initiative was met with open hands from the professors of the 2nd year studios, due to the fact that the common theme of these studios was the same - housing. Since 2010 the competition, known more commonly as CASA (“house” in romanian) is organized annually in Romania and the competition is the main interest for the second semester of the second year.
With some yearly exceptions, every faculty in Romania has adopted the design task as the main subject of study for their students.
All the students are invited to participate at the design task presentation, get to know each other, exchange experiences and most importantly, take part in the semester long marathon which is CASA.
